To change one's password, one has to be connected with his account on a computer in PXE mode. In a shell, type the `kpasswd` command (man kpasswd). kpasswd will ask for the current password two times, then two times for the new one. To change one's password, one has to go to the
[CRI intranet](https://intra.cri.epita.net/accounts/profile/).
## Forgetting password You may also reset your password if you lost it.
In case of over-sighting a password, a re-initialization interface will be available. Until then, the student has to contact the assistants and will be punished.

# Netsoul
Netsoul is, among many things, an authentication protocol on the school's network. Netsoul is necessary to go on the internet from network-wired computers.
One has to identify with his login and SOCKS [password](passwords.md).
## Clients
Multiple client exist on different platforms :
* BnetSoul (Windows)
* jogsoul (Linux, Windows, etc...)
* QNetSoul (Linux)
And more...
## Diskless / rack - Arch Linux
Jogsoul is present with an additional wrapper to help enter identifiers.
This wrapper launches a graphic interface if login/password have never been inquired. Otherwise, it starts jogsoul directly.
In case of error while typing identifiers, deleting _".jogsoul.conf"_ file (NOT jogsoul.conf !) will allow you to restart `jogsoul`.
## Racks - Windows
BnetSoul is already installed on windows. One simply has to enter his login and password.
# Passwords # Passwords
Until a better harmonization, students need multiple passwords to use the school's different services. They are handled by the Bocal and the CRI. Until a better harmonization, students need multiple passwords to use the

# IT Workstation # IT Workstation
Computer rooms located at Villejuif or Le Kremlin-Bicêtre are available at any time - day and night. There are two ways of accessing them: ## PXE
* Use a rack / USB disk Computer rooms located at Villejuif or Le Kremlin-Bicêtre are available at any
* Network boot (Preboot Execution Environment, PXE) time - day and night. Other computer rooms may have specific schedule depending
on their location. The machines have no hard drive, they boot via the network
using PXE (Preboot Execution Environment).
## Rack / USB Disks A menu is proposed with an archlinux session. Archlinux is the operating
system chosen by the school.
The school offers a basic "dump" with the necessary tools to follow courses. It is still allowed to modify it and install any application. However, it is up to the student's responsibility to ensure that the necessary tools are installed to follow courses given by the school. ## Live session
If there is any problem, it is possible to [redump](redump.md) the disk. The archlinux image evolves through the year to allow students to realize
their projects.
## Network boot The image is loaded in the memory. Which means that the entirety of the
modifications made outside of the AFS folders are lost on reboot.
It is also possible to boot computers directly from the network, without any hard drive. ## Epita account
Computers are supposedly already configured to boot this way if no disk is detected, it is still possible to force it by pressing the F12 key at boot. An "epita" account, without any password, is available at any moment. It allows
one to quickly log in on a computer, even without network (if it is already
started, obviously). It is strongly recommended to turn off the computer after
using this account to avoid people from retrieving data by re-logging on it.
A menu is then proposed with an [archlinux](archlinux_netboot.md) session. ## Student session
Each student has a session on the network. To log on it, one has to use his
login and his "epita" [password](passwords.md).
Personal folders are stocked on [AFS](afs.md). It is essential to read this
topic.
# Redump
Redumping allows one to set a default work environment. This can be done on any IT workstation located at Villejuif or Le Kremlin-Bicêtre.
**Warning**: All data will be overwritten.
**Warning**: During the process, the monitor might go to sleep, the only way to wake it up without disrupting the process is to press the CTRL key.
## Procedure
* Plug your disk on an USB-3 port
* Turn on the computer.
* Press the F12 key to enter network boot mode.
* In the network boot menu, choose `redump`
* Wait for the download to complete. This might take some time.
* Press `y` to start dumping.
* Wait for the dump to complete.
* To dump another disk, unplug the disk, plug another one, wait 30 seconds and choose the `rerun2` option. Else, turn off the computer.
## In case of issue
* Try with another computer.
## Western Digital warranty.
Western Digital disks are under warranty. If there is any damage on the disk, it is to the student responsibility to proceed of the exchange with Western Digital. Procedure can be found on the [Bocal intranet](https://intra.bocal.org/index.php?pgid=docvisu&m_doc_id=168).
